Airport Road Pumping Station and Reservoir

Tarpon recently completed the application of cementitious coatings to Cells 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B (existing cells) and Cell 3 (newly constructed cell), total surface area approximately 220,000 square feet, at the Airport Pumping Station and Reservoir in the Region of Peel.  The scope of the work included;

  • maintaining environmental conditions to meet manufacturer’s and engineer’s specifications; using a 600V 4500 CFM dehumidifier and 350 KW heaters; 
  • provision of confined space rescue services, confined space entry equipment, confined space entry permits, atmospheric monitoring equipment and other health and safety equipment and procedures;
  • erection of scaffolding systems to access all surfaces, including walls, baffle walls, channels and 53 foot elevations in the inlet towers;
  • provision of cranes for placement and removal of all material, equipment and debris;
  • provision of access equipment (scissor lifts and articulating booms);
  • preparation of existing concrete surfaces, by sandblasting , achieving manufactures require profile (CSP 3 to 5);
  • conduct various pull tests and other strength and moisture concrete tests to ensure the concrete strength, moisture levels and adhesive strength meet manufacturer’s specifications;
  • supply and installation of mechanically fastened stainless steel plates to protect concrete surfaces in the inlet towers;
  • supply and apply miscellaneous specialty coatings and anti-graffiti coatings in specified areas throughout the pumping station;
  • polyurethane crack injection and concrete resurfacing, as required;
  • expansion joint caulking;
  • application of cementitious waterproofing system, to interior walls;
  • application of epoxy barrier coating to exterior walls;
  • supply and install Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer to repair and stabilize a 20 feet section of 84 inch diameter PCCP (the outfall pipe); and
  • disinfection of reservoir cells, inlet towers, channels and the pumping station, in accordance with AWWA Standard C652-02.
